It's my honor to showcase someone who has been with SFT from the beginning. For the past 2 years they have been an integrable part of the family and have entertained us with numerous shorts including The Outback Chronicles, Mr. White's List of Demands episodes, Could It Get Any Worse episodes, and many unrelated shorts that always seem to leave a person with a sense of awe - someone actually thought of that?
Big cheers, 2 thumbs up and a round of applause for Studio 8 Entertainment!
' I love you , you love me, we're a happy family '
Thanks for the interview guys!!
1. Who is Studio 8 Entertainment and when was it developed?
Studio 8 is made up of a few guys, some who are very involved, some who are not involved every day, but who are talented and we're lucky to know and work with them. I guess the "Mega-Involved" guys are Chris Trew, Brock LaBorde (ME), Jared Richard, & Drew Baldwin. The "Semi-Involved" people are Rory Windhorst, Eric W. Pierson, Java Marcheselli, Truston Ailliet, & Mikey Felton. We used to all live in the same city (New Orleans), but now most of us are in Los Angeles and the others are in Austin or somewhere in Louisiana. We started the website in late 2000 and it's gone through many many changes since then. It used to be a lot of articles and goofy pictures. You'll find all of that content in our "Archives" section. Now, we mostly do videos and music. Absolutely everything we do has farts in it.
2. What is your favorite Studio 8 sketch?
Oh now that's a terrible question. If I pick one favorite, it's just unfair to all of the other videos. But my favorite is "Uncle Terry". Hands down, without a doubt, "Uncle Terry". And "Denim Fest".
3. Who is your target audience? What kind of fans do you attract?
We make videos for the people* who:
A - like comedy,
B - don't care about watching spoofs and parodies of easy pop culture targets,
C - want to see experimentations with fresh, original ideas,
D - acknowledge that there are few, if any, fresh, original ideas left in the world.
* - Such people may not exist.
4. If a magic genie granted you 3 wishes what would they be?
Wish #1 - I wish for all of the money and food in the world to be evenly distributed to my small cluster of friends and large cluster of minor acquaintances. Enemies and people I've never heard of will receive nothing.
Wish #2 - I wish for my penis to perform all of its duties like it never has before and to do such until the end of time.
Wish #3 - I wish for all my wishes to be undone because I learned an important lesson about being greedy.
5. Does Studio 8 Entertainment have a message?
Earlier, we had a message on SecretFunTime.com and it was from you and it was a request for this very interview. Congratulations!
6. What kind of equipment do you use?
We shoot on a Canon XH-A1, sometimes in 60i, sometimes in 24F, always in HDV. We edit with Final Cut Pro on a fancy MacPro. We have things like microphones and lights and props and costumes, but it's all really, really boring, so I will spare you.
7. Who are your influences?
If I tell you that, then people will start comparing us to him (or her, and/or them) and then it will seem like we're ripping him/her/them off. Because we rip everyone off and I really don't want anyone to know that we're doing that.
8. What was your funniest moment while filming a sketch?
That's a big tie. Pretty much any time we've had Chris Trew wear something stupid, I can't be on the set because I'll laugh and mess up everything. One time in particular was when we were filming scenes for Episodes 3 & 4 of "Could It Get Any Worse?" We had Chris wear a dumpy brown women's bathing suit to give his invalid male cousin Tunstall (Truston Ailliet) a bath. It took us a long time to get those shots down because we kept laughing and it was warm and wet and just very close quarters.
9. James Bulushi or Carey Grant?
Carey Grant if we're talking oral stuff. Belushi for everything else.
10. What kind of future plans do you have?
The big, ugly kind. We have lots of videos coming out this year - at least one new video a week. We're trying to cut down on the series we've got going on. We want to focus on just a few or one really big one. Of course everyone wants to do movies and TV because the money is great, but I would have a hard time leaving the internet. It's such a fun place and I've been publishing all kinds of content for it for almost a decade. The internet is in my heart is what I'm trying to say here. I'm going to get a large tattoo of the internet on my back to prove it.
11. Do you have any friends you want to shout out to? Any other comedy groups you want to share with us?
