Everyone has that one thing, or lots of things, that totally freak you out. There are the typical and the unique. Whatever they are there is definately one thing that goes along any phobia...humor!
I'll start...
I have two things that come to mind. The first is feet, gross feet to be exact. It didn't matter how hot a guy was - if he has funky feet - forget it. Hairy toes, smelly feet, long toe nails, snagle toes, junk under his nails, yuck, yuck, YUCK!!! It's not just guy's feet but any feet in general.
The second thing is, I don't quite know how to say it so I just be blunt...pubes!
Oh I hate them!!! They freak me out worse than feet!!! I was at a mutual friends condo. I had to pee. I held it for as long as I could. I knew I was taking a risk, due to the fact that there were three guys living in there and only one had a girlfriend. Well lets just say it looked like someone threw a "pube" birds nest in a fan that exploded all over the bathroom!!! I "hover peed" and got the hell out of there! I smothered my hands in hand sanitizer and dry heaved a couple times...eewwwww!! There is also "pube" soap. Ever seen that? It's when the bar of soap in the shower is sprinkled with random pubes! Very nice!!

that sounds reasonable. now that you said that, every day at the YMCA my friends and i yell at cars driving by. we say, "THE BUTTERFLIES ARE COMING!!! DRIVE FASTER!!!" now you have made me realize our ultimate fate, and this is how the world will end someday

i don't mind spiders. today, though, i was cutting the grass around the house and saw a big black spider. what's worse is that it was eating another one!!!!

Clowns because you know there's something hiding behind that greasepaint smile, something dark & evil! Pigs because I was bitten by a large sow pig as a child. Needles. Um, they're sharp & stabbity.

But clowns though. Coulrophobia. *shudders* I once punched a rodeo clown in the junk for scaring me when I was eight. Dirty pool, but I was short & he deserved it.

A tv thing that scared me as a kid was the Krofft's Lidsville. Charles Nelson Reilly with people in giant hats. And that horrible miniseries in the early eighties that had all of us little kids scared of the bomb? The Day After.

Movie-wise, The Abominable Dr. Phibes scared the hell out of me at the drive-in as a wee bairn. I'm annoyed that I am so psychologically scarred by something so bloody camp. Although if I ever did drag, I'd use the name Vulnavia.

Are those phobias or just gross outs? Do you panic at them or just get a gag/cringe response?
With me, it's heights, injections, and sharks. I break into a cold sweat and freeze up with those!!

Oh man. I'm terrified of sharks. Yes, sharks. I live in the middle of the continent. There are no sharks here. But they scare me anyway. I watch discovery channel and hyperventilate.

I'm also afraid of clowns and old people. Children too sometimes. Maybe people in general? Omg, what a revelation. XD

I have several real phobias....
Aeroacrophobia- Fear of open high places
Arachnephobia or Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders
Thanatophobia- Death or dying
Isolophobia- Alone, being or solitude
Ophidiophobia or Snakephobia- Snakes ( only mild thought)

I never had them when I was younger... I think becoming more and more knowledgable as I've gotten older has had an affect concerning these...
I'm still a bit scared of the boogeyman too, but I think it stems from demonology more than anything...

Blaire Witch is my biggest phobia. When I was little my two older cousins lost me in a forestry area of their park and ever since I fear getting lost in a forest at night. Luckily, I'm not in forests very often!

Another of is of my Visa card. Somehow it grew $1400 over my credit limit and ever since I have felt like Jack fighting the evil giant atop the beanstalk. Scary stuff! *let that be a lesson not to abuse credit limits - it's not fun not having a cc*

This is a cool discussion - thanks Jaimee

Well this is an old discussion but I'll add my two cents.

My biggest phobia is spiders. Although it's mellowed out recently and I can actually stand the little ones.

I also have a fear of mechanical contraptions at a height. Things like ferris wheels, fairground rides etc. It's not the height...it's being in a mechanical box that gets me! This is why I walk to the top of the Eiffel tower when I'm in Paris! Every once in awhile I make myself get on a ferris wheel or something like that, just to prove I'm not letting my fear get the better of me!

So I also wanted to share!
I have loads of phobias, some pretty normal and some not.
Cows! I can't stand cows, they way they stare at you without blinking, its not natural.
I'm terrified of the dark, like completly terrified. I think it has something to do with my brother. I grew up in the countryside and my grandparents lived down the road and i used to call to their house and stay there for hours. One night on the way back it was pitch dark and i was jogging through our gateway when my brother jumped out from behind a tree.I think my heart stopped that night!
Oh and my other fears---spiders, heights, water and Dolly Parton.
I decided a few years back to try and overcome my fears but even though i have been in water with crocodiles and crossed a shaky rope bridge i still can't get over the panic!

Yes...but at least you did it!! I've crossed shaky bridges but never tried to swim with crocodiles!
