The Great Comedy Drought of 07

The summer of 07 has been a brutally dry summer not only for all of Southern California but for an entire nation of television watchers. With the exception of one amazing entry from HBO "Flight of the Conchords" there has really been nothing funny on TV aside from G4's reruns of Arrested Development and the Daily Show.

Because they have been hemorrhaging eyeballs during the off-season network and cable tv programmers have stopped the typical summer "all-rerun" scheduling, but why can't they try to sneak at least one good comedy into the line-up? I am starting the discussion because I hope I am missing something. Am I missing anything? Is there some hysterically funny new comedy on the air that I have overlooked? Or, is television forcing all of us comedy lovers onto the Internet to find the good stuff?

I wouldn't rank it very high amongst the funniest shows I've ever seen but it gives me a laugh here and there - moreso than anything else I've seen lately.; ▶ Reply to This

I have seen Lil' Bush and it is definitely a funny show and I think a sleeper for best summer series. (And much better then the Parker/Stone fiasco that was "My Bush") . As far as "Flight" I really think it is one of those series you have to watch back to back to back. Initially I wasn't in love and then I was up for 3 hours with a bout of insomnia and I watched a bunch of episodes on demand and I suddenly thought the show was genius. There are certainly some shows that miss completely but episodes 2, 4 and 5 I think are very strong. I am going to start a Weeds discussion board tonight and you can read my full thoughts there but I seriously think the finale last season and ep 1 of the new season has gone off the deep end.; ▶ Reply to This

Thank God You're Here. I've only watched it a couple of times. One time was ok, the other good and last night was excellent. It all depends on who is invited to play (perhaps Eric will be invited on..that'd be cool)
Oh, and if anyone can get the CBC channel there is This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Corner Gas. Both are very good Canadian shows. Infact, a lot of the CBC shows are great! Odd and funny but sweet and charming at the same time - just like me! lol; ▶ Reply to This
